SP Jain School of Global Management welcomed over 200 new students from around the world to the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) program in September 2022. Students from 13 different countries started their undergraduate journey at SP Jain’s campuses in Singapore and Mumbai. Students of the new class are notably diverse, coming from Bangladesh, China, Dominican Republic, India, Korea, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Philippines, Singapore, UAE, USA, Uzbekistan, and Vietnam.
This diverse community of students reflects a world of different beliefs, thoughts, cultures, backgrounds, and talents. In the same batch, you will find a literature gold medallist, a budding scientist, a district-level shooter, an air riflist, a musician, and state-level sports champions. The batch also includes students with significant accolades in music & entertainment, arts, and science, among other fields.
Having started their global adventure in Singapore/Mumbai in Year 1, these students will travel to Dubai for Year 2, followed by Sydney for Years 3 and 4, where they will graduate with the option to apply for a post-study work visa of up to 2 years*, and be prepared to embark on a global career.
The orientation ceremony for the students in Singapore took place at The Star Gallery on September 7, 2022. Hosted by Diana David (Head of Student Recruitment – Executive MBA, Southeast Asia), the event kick-started with a high-energy cultural performance – the Lion Dance.
It was followed by the auspicious lamp-lighting ceremony, which was led by:
Samantha Ng (Student Experience Manager) recited the SP Jain student prayer, followed by our new Jaguar, Fiona Marie Baladad from the Philippines, reading the student’s pledge.
Mr Jain warmly welcomed the new BBA students and their parents. Talking about the importance of developing life skills, he said, "The goal of education has shifted to developing skills – creativity, agility, problem-solving and adaptability. You will learn these skills throughout your program at SP Jain." He concluded his interactive session with an empowering quote: "Whatever you think, you can do; just begin it."
The session was followed by a welcome address by Dr Vaidyanathan Jayaraman. He interacted with the students who got to learn about the city and the cutting-edge curriculum that awaited them.
The orientation was then officiated by Prof Golo Weber with an engaging welcome address and introduction to the faculty and staff.
The afternoon was packed with activities to help students and parents familiarise themselves with the School, including:
