A full house, the event was commenced by Prof. Christopher Abraham, Professor and Head of Campus (Dubai) at SP Jain, who, in his keynote address, spoke about technology and innovation in disruptive times.

His engaging talk was followed by Mr. Chandrasekhar Singh, Global Director – Corporate Relations at SP Jain, addressing the guests about the role of educational institutions in successful businesses. He said, “Businesses no more can exist in unison where they get their best people from the industry. As a business school, we are there to ensure that the gap between the business school and businesses is absolutely minimal.”

The conversations continued with an insightful panel discussion on the topic of ‘Key to Career Success in Disruptive Times’ moderated by Mr. Marko Selaković, Director – Institutional Development & Student Recruitment (Dubai) at SP Jain.

Members of the panel included:

  • Dr. Gune Rethinam, Director - Organisational Development, Etisalat
  • Mr. Joe Devassy, Senior Executive in Tech Industry
  • Mr. Sandeep Thapa, Director, Middle East Society for Human Resource Management (MESHRM)

The panellists debated and discussed the top skills of the future. Agility to learn, creativity and networking skills were considered as some of the essential skills that would allow one to stay relevant in the industry. As quoted by Prof. Christopher Abraham, “In order to stay updated with contemporary skills, one must constantly – Learn, Unlearn & Re-learn.”

Mr. Marko Selaković added that knowledge is broadly and globally accessible and available. However, in spite of the plethora of knowledge at one’s disposal, not everybody has the hunger to learn. An individual who has the passion to be a lifelong learner is one who would stay relevant and updated in terms of the knowledge, skills and abilities that are required in business, he shared.

The event concluded with a short Q&A session with the guests, followed by dinner and networking.
