We are pleased to announce that SP Jain School of Global Management has signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the British Council on July 16, 2019, facilitating the School to join a select list of leading academic institutions in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region who have the privilege to host an IELTS Registration and Test Centre.

The MoU was signed by Prof Christopher Abraham, Professor and Head of Campus (Dubai), SP Jain School of Global Management, and Deep Adhikari, Director Examinations Gulf South Cluster, British Council UAE.

The MoU enables:

  • Collaboration on English language teaching, assessment and testing, along with supporting leadership development, for SP Jain students
  • Providing learning support to SP Jain’s faculty and students, including training for the teachers, information sessions, e-learning platforms and books to help students and faculty with their IELTS exam
  • Fostering of mutually agreed educational and cultural activities between SP Jain and the British Council on an ongoing basis

Speaking about the development, Prof Christopher Abraham shared, "This is a significant milestone in SP Jain’s history. Today, we have signed up a strategic partnership with the British Council, initially to launch and market the IELTS examinations among our own student cohorts from different regions who come to Dubai as part of their multi-country, multi-campus learning experience. Moving forward, we plan to extend this facility to the entire community around.”

“Interestingly, for the last few centuries, English as a language has gained respectability and credibility as being the language spoken across by the largest section of multi-ethnic, multi-cultural, multinational people. So, we feel that it is a very important strategic partnership for us. We look forward to collaborate and cooperate with the British Council on many more such initiatives,” he added.

Deep Adhikari said, “We are delighted that we are tying up with SP Jain School of Global Management. We, as British Council, a cultural relations organisation, spread knowledge and understanding with the people of the UK in the countries we are based. Our tie-up with SP Jain is at the first step, the partnership for IELTS, but we are really looking forward to doing a lot more with the Institute not just in the UAE but also in other parts of the world.”

He added, “What makes us really happy is that there are segments of students who can access our qualifications through the SP Jain Campus in Academic City in Dubai, which will help them to get their life goals and meet their life conditions. We are very happy that the hard work by both the teams has ultimately borne fruit today.”
