SP Jain hosts a Blood Donation Drive at the Dubai campus

SP Jain School of Global Management in partnership with the Dubai Health Authority, Dubai Blood Donation Centre and Dubai International Academic City hosted a Blood Donation Drive at the Dubai campus on January 15, 2020.

The ‘Save a Life’ blood donation campaign was launched in December 2019 and was organised by our Sustainability Club in collaboration with the Global Learning & Student Life Committee. The objective of the project was to encourage a culture of blood donation among the School’s students and staff. The campaign is a follow-up to a similar blood donation campaign that was implemented on the campus in previous years.

“What a better way to start the new year than by the service of the needy by donating 450 ml of blood to save lives. We had around 40+ enthusiastic and happy donors,” said Bhavish Adwani, Global Learning & Student Life Committee member and President of Student Sustainability Club. “As the club president, I always aim for the club to strive and to be able to make as much of an impact we can in the short time we spend on each campus. This event was a learning opportunity for me as it was the first-ever blood donation I had helped organise and even though I was not able to donate blood I hope to be able to do so soon,” he added.

"Blood donation is a meaningful activity that I believe could help so many people. This is not my first and definitely not the last time I participate in this activity," said Anh Duong, our Bachelor of Business Administration student (Class of 2018) from Vietnam.

The event serves to thank voluntary, unpaid blood donors for their life-saving gifts of blood and to raise awareness of the need for regular blood donations to ensure the quality, safety and availability of blood and blood products for patients in need.

Our students shared that they had a great experience and are keen to make more positive contributions as we strive to become more inclusive and hope to inspire the community to give back and help save lives.
