10 student teams from SP Jain’s PG Programs recently participated in the intra-competitive exercise of understanding retail management in the UAE using Carrefour as a case study at SP Jain’s Dubai Campus. All the student presentations were well-thought and creative in terms of industry recommendations, and marked improvements in presentation skills and showcased a great amount of quality peer to peer learning/knowledge sharing, collaboration, and discussion.
The event started with a global learning session with guest speaker Dr. Kiran Nair, observational field visits to Mirdiff City Center to gain an overview of retail management sector in the UAE, and the presentation rounds.
On 1st August 2017, the event further saw the top 5 teams in the final round, presenting their industry recommendations, from which the winners were chosen.
Team 9 won the challenge with members including Snigdha Pandey, Champakalakshmi Ravi, Ranabijoy Pramanik, Shirley Paynor & Kanishk Vardhan. The team looked at the effectiveness of customer loyalty program by conducting a comparative analysis of Carrefour loyalty program with others and suggested key strategies to improve its effectiveness with reference to all impact areas.
Team 4, including Vidhi Chheda, Firdaus Kishwar, Ishaan Banga, Sashwat Pandey & Sampada, came as close runners-up. The team earned accolades for looking at strategies against online E-retailers: With the entrance of Amazon/Souq in UAE market – they also proposed strategies Carrefour must adopt in advance to retain its market share and customer base.
All the participants received certificates and the winning team was awarded AED 500 for their contributions.
